Lead Grocery Store Designer

Job Description

We are looking for a talented Lead Grocery Store Designer to join our team at Associated Wholesale Grocers. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and coordinating construction for grocery store projects in the Kansas City Division. Your duties will include developing floor plans, advising on store development, and overseeing equipment needs. You will work closely with Architects and Engineers to create project working drawings and ensure successful construction and equipment installation. CAD proficiency, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems knowledge are essential. Some travel within Kansas and Missouri is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Meet with member retailers to design fixture layouts and recommend building components.
• Supervise all areas of building construction and review construction documents.
• Coordinate equipment installation and negotiate with vendors.
• Provide direction and training to Store Engineers and manage project budgets.

Qualifications

• Design experience with CAD software and exposure to construction management techniques.
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and technical aptitude.
• Experience in the retail grocery industry and knowledge of construction documents.
• Ability to build professional relationships and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Experience & Education

• High school diploma required, college degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
• 2-5 years of grocery store design or construction experience.
• Experience managing employees and knowledge of refrigeration systems.
